Two Day Swimming Carnival results

This year saw a new style of Swimming Carnival at St Mary MacKillop College, with the introduction of a Two Day event: a Year 5-8 Middle School Carnival followed by a Year 9-12 Senior School Carnival.

McCormack jumped to an early lead on Thursday, and their determination to fill every spot in every race ensured they finished on top at the end of Day One.

Scott Darlow talks reconciliation

Aboriginal singer/songwriter Scott Darlow entertained and educated Year 11 Religion and Life classes on Tuesday 13 February. His relaxed and personal delivery helped to drive home his message of Reconciliation as he gave a brief overview of Australia’s history and some of the impacts on aboriginal culture and families.

Eagles players Jetta, Sheed visit the College

Students had the opportunity to meet and ask questions when West Coast Eagles players Lewis Jetta and Dom Sheed, as well as Eagles Assistant coach and former Brownlow medallist Sam Mitchell, visited the College on Tuesday 13 February.

Former teacher, Eagles recruiter and game development coordinator, Kim Hannah, entertained the children and shared examples of staying healthy and showing resilience in difficult situations.

2017 Graduate Results: 100% VET Achievement

The College congratulates all 2017 graduates who successfully completed nationally accredited Certificate courses for their WACE results through VET Achievement.

The College offers 12 VET programs from Certificate II to Certificate IV, providing tailored pathways for apprenticeships, traineeships and direct employment, as well as alternative tertiary entrance options to TAFE and universities.

Year 12 Ball: Once Upon A Time

It was a fairytale themed start to 2018 for our Senior students, as they stepped onto the red carpet at the St Mary MacKillop College Year 12 Ball.

The Black Brewing Co in Wilyabrup was a magical setting for the evening, and the students were all suitably ‘spruced up’ for the occasion.

Students return from a Winter in Italy

During the summer holidays, four of our Year 12 students took part in a reciprocal cultural exchange in Italy. They spent eight weeks with host families in Italy, attending Italian schools and immersing themselves in the local culture.

The students all travelled to very different regions of Italy: from the magic of Venice and snowy Lake Como in the north, to the iconic city of Rome and its regional towns.

Year 9 Junior Master Chef Challenge

Another fierce Master Chef Challenge was held recently in the two Year 9 Food classes this term, with students preparing and plating up an array of impressive dishes for the judges in their bid to be crowned Junior Master Chef.

Tim Valmadre’s homemade pizza drew for third place in Wednesday’s class with Charlie and Ysabeau’s delicious Green Chicken Curry.

New Primary Teachers

Next year we are pleased to welcome four new teachers to the Primary campus, who bring their passion and enthusiasm for teaching to Pre Primary and Years 1, 3 and 6. We asked Ryan, Jessie, Carrie-Ann and Claire to tell us a little bit about what drives them and who they are when they’re not at school.
