The Design & Technology Project Exhibition was held in the Gymnasium foyer from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 October. The exhibition displayed student work from the subject areas of Design and Technology, Home Economics and Digital Technology and included displays in photography, robotics, coding, 3D printing, metal, acrylic, wood and furniture design.
Mrs Pusey and Mrs Christie’s Year 1 class were very excited to be presenting their first ever assembly in front of the school and were dressed up in an array of different animals and character costumes thanks to the wonderful efforts of their dedicated parents.
This assembly related to topics we had been looking at in class, including learning how to bounce back from tricky situations with Mrs Power. We all sang well, we danced, we introduced and addressed our assembly and we also ran the computers and the whole assembly by ourselves.
The Primary Athletics team went to Bunbury on Thursday 19 October to compete in the SWPSA Athletics Carnival at Hay Park. Forty-one students represented our College in their year level for a range of track events as well as jumps and throws. The College competed against five other Catholic and Independent schools in Group 2, with a total of twelve schools from the South-West region attending this year’s carnival.
Lisa Weston joins the College community this term to work with all students, particularly our Aboriginal students, in promoting Aboriginal culture and providing a critical link to the community.
Having lived in the South West all her life, Lisa loves anything to do with the beach and summer, including swimming, fishing and BBQs. She also has a real passion for education, with four children of her own, and joins our student support team from a similar role at Busselton Senior High School.
The last day of Term 3 is always an emotional day. For our Year 12 students, the day marks the end of their journey as students of St Mary MacKillop College. They also hand the mantle of leaders in our College community to our Year 11 students.
The morning commenced for the Year 12s with the Graduation Breakfast in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Last term the Year 6 students spent their last week of school on camp at Woodman Point in Munster. They were kept entertained with all the fun activities in and around the campsite, including the rock-climbing wall, beach and orienteering. The children enjoyed all the activities provided, but the favourite for most was definitely the Flying Fox.
