Year 4 students celebrates first Eucharist

The College and Parish community came together on Sunday morning, 28 May, as 47 Year 4 students celebrated their First Eucharist at Our Lady of the Bay Church.

It was a wonderful mass with Father Gerome as our celebrant. The primary choir sang beautifully, and we thank Mrs Milicich and Mr Grace for their musical leadership.

Book-aneer Book Fair

AARGH! Me Mateys – the 2017 Book Fair was a Grrreat success. Students, staff and parents alike all arrived dressed as pirates, with a parrot, a few mermaids and even a treasure chest thrown in, to enjoy the activities and food in the Primary campus’ undercover area.

How hoodies and trackpants helped fight cancer

The cold, wet weather on Friday 19 May might have postponed the Primary Athletics Carnival, but it created perfect conditions for Year 10 student Lucinda Palmer’s campaign as part of the College’s Casual Dress for a Cause day.

Casual Dress for a Cause is an initiative where the College invites students to propose and then champion a chosen charity with a fundraising campaign within the student and staff community.

Abdi Aden – story of a lucky man

Imagine returning from a soccer game one afternoon to find that war had broken out and your neighbourhood was devastated by bombing. Then to find yourself separated from family at the age of thirteen, travelling for months on foot to escape the war, on a journey that took you the distance of here to Carnarvon and saw most of your travelling companions killed.

ANNIE Jr performances a resounding success

When the curtain came down after the final performance of ANNIE Jr in the gymnasium at St Mary MacKillop College on Saturday night, it became clear to many of us that we had just witnessed something amazing.

It wasn’t just the performance itself, which was so professionally executed you would swear these kids were seasoned professionals, instead of students having a go in their first theatre production – which was also a first for the College and for the venue itself.
