Meet five students on exchange from Italy

At the end of last term the College welcomed five students from Italy, who are staying with Year 11 host families until the end of August as part of an exchange program with the WA Association of Teachers of Italian (WAATI). Their aim is to live an ‘in-home experience’ and get a feel for Australian life at the very heart of it.

Welcome to our new Head of Primary, Jo Paini

Meet our new Head of Primary, Mrs Joanne Paini.

Jo comes to our community from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Bunbury, where she was Assistant Principal for two and a half years after working as a local School Support Consultant for the CEO. She has lived in Dalyellup for seven years, regularly spending time on their Kojonup farm with her husband Tony. They have two children, Dominic 23 and Nicholas 21, as well as working dogs and a pet Groodle called Zeb “who is the size of a small horse.”

New Mary MacKillop bronze unveiled between campuses

St Mary MacKillop College has unveiled a new sculpture of Mary MacKillop this week in front of their new gymnasium joining primary and secondary campuses. Sculptor Linda Klarfeld came over from Sydney to supervise installation of her artwork, which depicts Mary MacKillop as a young woman reading a letter as she walks.

Senior Academic Excellence Awards

Congratulations to the following Senior School students who were presented with Academic Excellence Awards today for their efforts this semester. All of these students achieved A grades in over half of their courses, with no less than a C grade across all courses.

ACC Boys Hockey Challenge in Bunbury

Well done to all the boys who represented our College with pride, sportsmanship and endeavour in the ACC Hockey Challenge in Bunbury on Thursday 23 June. Our team comprised of boys from Year 7 through to Year 12, and unfortunately on the day we came up against stronger and more balanced opposition teams on the day, with our opposition mainly being Year 11 and 12 students.

ACC Girls Hockey Challenge in Bunbury

The Year 10 Girls Hockey team made it into the grand final of the ACC Hockey Challenge in Bunbury on Thursday 23 June.

After losing the first game 3-0 to Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School on grass, we played our second game on turf against Frederick Irwin Catholic College from Mandurah.

Catholic Youth Summit @ Notre Dame University

Four of our student leaders were fortunate to attend the Catholic Youth Summit at Notre Dame University in Fremantle last week, enjoying a full day focused on communication skills, personal and spiritual growth and effective leadership skills.

The summit began with students hearing from Fablice, a refugee who is passionate about raising awareness of the plight of refugees and spreading his message of peace through music.
