Environment Sculpture Winners

Students went all out with their creativity in this year’s Environment Sculpture Competition, which was judged on MacKillop Day. With many thought-provoking and clever entries, judging proved difficult, but in the end Robbie Wackerbarth once again came through with an impressive metal shark sculpture labelled ‘don’t cull Bruce’. Second prize went to Lindsay Ward for a colourful ‘Toy World’, which urged us to consider the destructive impact of this multi-trillion dollar plastics business. Lanah Burge picked up third with another piece of clever furniture design, this time from recycled bicycle wheels.

Year 9 students to inspire budding readers

Year 9 English students have recently begun a Budding Readers program with Year 4 and 5 students from the Primary campus, designed to foster a love of reading, improve literacy and promote bonds between the secondary and primary students. It has also been an opportunity for Year 9 students to develop their skills in verbal expression.

Year 9 students building bridges in Perth

On Wednesday the 3rd of August, six Year 9 students were selected from extension science classes to attend Aurecon’s annual Bridge-Building competition at Scitech in Perth. Schools from regional and metropolitan areas all gathered to battle it out in the name of prize money and bragging rights.

Netball: boys challenge metro schools in Freo

On Friday 22 July at 5:30am Mr Horrocks and Ms Stark took the Senior boys and the Year 8 netball teams up to Perth to compete in a fun filled day. The whole day I was impressed with the amazing efforts from the Year 8 girls, who kept their chins up while versing some talented schools. They showed determination and strength to head back out on the court and give it another go after losing three games in a row.
